Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept in a windowless reinforced concrete container with a single steel door connecting to an antechamber. The container is monitored by both infrared and standard visual surveillance. Lighting in the chamber is controlled remotely.
The container is to remain unlit at all times, except during testing. When testing, personnel will first proceed through the unlit antechamber. The antechamber must be sealed from the rest of the facility before the door to the the subject's container is opened. Once personnel have entered the container, the door to the antechamber will shut and lock before testing begins. This process ensures that no residual light from the outside facility enters the containment chamber.
In the event of a containment breach, all non-critical lighting in the facility will be suspended until SCP-XXXX is successfully re-contained.
Description: No clear visual spectrum image of the subject exists. Infrared imaging suggests the shape of an unnaturally tall (2.5m) humanoid with arms extending to approximately knee level. Proportionally, the SCP-XXXX is much thinner than a hypothetical human of the same height.
When mobile, SCP-XXXX is extremely hostile to humans, most often attacking the throat and abdomen, leaving deep lacerations that typically lead to death from blood loss, though several personnel have survived testing with moderate to severe injuries. SCP-XXXX's mobility is directly related to the amount of light in its environment. In complete darkness, SCP-XXXX is extremely difficult to detect via infrared imaging and is effectively harmless. As lighting increases the subject and it begins to exhibit signs animacy an registers more clearly in infrared.
The relationship between light and activity appears to be exponential, and Foundation research suggests that in the presence of a standard 60 watt incandescent lightbulb (800 Lumens) the subject would be capable of breaching containment. To date, testing has been limited to light output of no more than five lumens (approximately equal to the out put of five standard candles).
