Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked 4m x 4m x 3m containment area at all times unless it is being tested. The containment area and the outside is fitted with CCTV. All footage captured by CCTV is to be reviewed on a weekly basis. Any persons attempting to access SCP-XXXX's containment or view or stream content from SCP-XXXX without permission will be punished according to the severity of their actions and their class. Since incident-XXX, SCP-XXXX is to be directly observed by D-Class personal only, to lower the risks of losing members of staff. All Foundation staff on site are reminded of the huge risk SCP-XXXX poses to the facility and must ensure that all television sets are to be switched off between 11:00pm and 11:30pm. Once staff have found out the true nature of the broadcasts that SCP-XXXX receives, those broadcasts are to be re-designated as SCP-XXXX while any television set that receives the broadcasts will be designated as SCP-XXXX-1.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 32 Goodmans LD3265HD HD Ready Digital Freeview LCD TV. At around 11:00pm, the TV will begin to lose reception from any channel it is on at the time, while changing to an unknown channel not normally viewable to other television sets. After about 30 seconds, the television begins displaying a distorted view of the direction the TV is facing with a deep red tint for the next 10-20 minutes. During this time, various subtitles are displayed at the bottom of the screen typically directed at one 1 person currently watching the television.

Personal who have watched these broadcasts have mentioned the text to be very emotionally distressing. The texts have reportedly ranged from attacks directed at the viewer's personal life, disturbing revelations of their future, to occasionally cryptic or coded messages about any topics related to the viewer. Previous incidents have proved that the broadcasts received by any affected television sets can differ. [see incident XXX] Various activity has also been linked to the broadcasts. [see incident XXX] If no one is directly able to view SCP-XXXX, it will continue to display the broadcast without any text.

Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, it cannot be determined that the anomalous effects are caused by the TV set, but rather the place where the broadcasts are coming from. Staff have determined that SCP-XXXX simply acts as a 'gateway', allowing these effects to be manifested. These broadcasts are currently designated SCP-XXXX-1. [Paragraphs explaining the description]

Addendum: The Foundation is currently working on methods to detect the origin of the broadcasting frequencies recieved by SCP-XXXX. It is currently unknown how SCP-XXXX receives these broadcasts as other identical Freeview TV sets have been unable to receive the broadcasts in the same way as SCP-XXXX. All other TV sets, with or without Freeview, are normally unable to receive the broadcasts. Fitting SCP-XXXX with a different aerial has proved ineffective. Since 30/9/09, SCP-XXXX has continued to display the same anomalous effects after major upgrades were made to the Freeview service. [Optional additional paragraphs]
