Entrance to Site-59 |
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is locked within an underground facility which is located ██ kilometers east of █████, New Zealand, ███ meters below the surface. (Designated Site-59).
There are to be no less than ten (10) Security Department (SD) personnel on-site at any given time. Under no circumstances should SD personnel be given access to SCP-XXXX.
Research staff is to be rotated out every three months. Psych evaluations are required once a month for all personnel stationed at Site-59.
Update: 2/27/2012
SCP-XXXX is to be monitored at all times with equipment designed to measure and record neural oscillation waves. In the event of an abnormality, Mobile Task Force Tau-6 is to be dispatched to maintain control and prevent a breach of containment.
As of yet, research has yielded no way to safely disable SCP-XXXX.
Under no circumstances are research personnel to attempt to interact with, alter, or perform tests on SCP-XXXX due to the possibility of a repeat of the events that occurred on 02/24/2012.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large machine of unknown origins. It is suspected that the function of the machine is to amplify natural brainwaves, though the intended purpose of this function is unknown. It is composed of an unknown metal that reflects very little light (an albedo of .002), and has resisted multiple forms of damage, including powered grinders, mechanical cutters, and blowtorches. The machine itself is made up of a central, cylindrical tower measuring three and a half (3.5) meters in diameter and six (6) meters in height, with forty-seven (47) cylindrical pods measuring one (1) meter in diameter and four (4) meters in length protruding from the side. Every ten (10) minutes, vents located on the ends of these pods open and release water vapor into the air. The water vapor measures 75° Kelvin, and it is unknown how or why it does not freeze due to the temperature. Three and a half (3.5) meters from the central tower sits a ring-shaped object of the same metal. The ring is two meters in diameter and is attached to the floor by unknown means. Extensive testing has place the age of the material to be at least 40,000 years olf.
Researchers have tentatively designated it as a BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) based on the very large quantity of delta-type neural oscillation waves that the machine emits. Also emitted by the machine are waves measuring between 23-28 Hz, but are atypical of Beta waves due to their cognitohazardous properties (See Document S59-1 for complete report). These wave have been designated SCP-XXXX-A. It is unknown if there are other frequencies given off by SCP-XXXX that remain undetected due to the limitations of the equipment currently in use.
Prolonged exposure - the shortest recorded period being three and a half (3.5) months - to the waves emitted by SCP-XXXX has been shown to cause a condition similar to Alzheimer's disease. The early symptoms are identical to Alzheimer's, including impaired learning, memory loss, difficulty with advanced communication, loss of executive functions, agnosia, and apraxia.
The moderate stage also resembles Alzheimer's, as symptoms include paraphasias, a loss of complex motor skills, worsening short-memory problems, and an impairment upon long-term memory.
The advanced stage of this condition, however, resembles Alzheimer's only passingly. Subjects that advance to this stage of the condition are often extremely aggressive and violent for a short period of time (recorded data varies from three (3) days to two (2) weeks), after which they grow apathetic and perpetually exhausted. Subjects will sleep for approximately 80% of their time, awakening only to eat or purge waste. These functions, too, eventually cease, and the subject will enter a catatonic state that will lead to death within one (1) to two (2) weeks.
Attempts by Foundation doctors to artificially extend the life of persons affected by SCP-XXXX anomalous properties have been met with
Scans of the pods have shown that they contain life forms that are the assumed source of both the delta waves, and SCP-XXXX-A. These life forms, known collectively as SCP-XXXX-02-41, very closely resemble humans in brain activity, but differ enough to be assumed as a separate species. Only forty (40) out of the forty-seven (47) assumed specimens show any detectible brain activity. Their physical appearance and origin are both unknown due to the inability of researchers to breach the pods.
SCP-XXXX-02-41 are humanoid creatures measuring approximately two (2) meters in height with reflective olive-colored skin. Their arms are one (1) meter in length, each having three fifteen (15) centimeter-long fingers. Their faces are featureless, not possessing eyes, ears, nostrils, or a mouth - though they have proven to be capable of speech, as seen in Incident Report S56-1M-04. These beings, though large, pose no danger physically as their bodies are vulnerable and weak. However, due to their supernatural mental abilities - including telekinesis and pyrokinesis - they are very resistant to most forms of conventional weaponry and are considered extremely dangerous. Their origin is still unknown.
Incident Logs
Incident Report S59-1M-01
10/13/1998, 4:26 PM
Small spike in wave activity for a period of twenty-two seconds (0:22). Wave activity returned to normal.
Incident Report S59-1M-02
On 7/16/2000, 2:41 AM
Small spike in wave activity for a period of forty-six seconds (0:46). Reports received of minimal seismic activity, measuring 0.9 on the Richter scale, during this period. Wave and seismic activity began and ceased at the same moment. Relation between these two phenomena is unknown.
Incident Report S59-1M-03
On 5/22/2009, 8:14 AM
Personnel stationed at Site-59 reported a massive spike in wave activity from SCP-XXXX for a period of precisely four minutes and thirty seven seconds (4:37). Minimal seismic activity, measuring 1.4 on the Richter scale, was recorded for the duration of this event. During this period, personnel in or near the room housing SCP-XXXX claim to have heard a voice in their heads repeating the following statement:
'We are almost there'.
Incident Report S59-1M-04
On 2/16/2012, 8:43 AM
Personnel at Site-59 reported seismic activity measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale, and atypical fluctuations in wave activity from SCP-XXXX. Period lasted for one minute and twelve seconds (1:12).
Researchers who were running a test on SCP-XXXX during the incident report that they received a direct telepathic communication, presumably from SCP-XXXX-02-41, repeating the words 'We can see you. We can touch you. Approximately one minute and one second (1:01) after the incident began, eyewitnesses report and video surveillance confirms that a circular portal measuring approximately two meters in diameter appeared in the circular object near SCP-XXXX and remained there for eleven (11) seconds. Researcher reports and examination of the surveillance video have led to the conclusion that the portal is most likely an opening into a Lorentzian-type traversable wormhole. Dr. ██████, one of the researchers conducting the test, was located less than a meter from the portal, and moved to investigate.
As Dr. ██████ drew close to the portal, eyewitnesses report that a large olive-colored arm with three large fingers emerged from the portal and pulled him inside. Shortly after, an olive-colored face with no facial features emerged partially from the portal. Researchers report that the life form seemed to examine each of them, before speaking the words 'We can see you. We can touch you. Now we know you.' and receding back into the portal.
The portal disperses, wave activity returns to normal and seismic activities cease.
It is believed that the life form that partially emerged from the portal is not one of the forty (40) instances of SCP-XXXX-02-41, but is of the same species and origin.
Incident Report S59-1M-05
On 2/24/2012, 12:07 PM
Personnel stationed at Site-59 reported substantial seismic activity measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale, and massive fluctuations in wave activity from SCP-XXXX. Shortly after this report, contact was lost with Site-59. Local seismograph installations continued to measure seismic activity for the next nineteen minutes.
Mobile Task Force Tau-6 (hereby referred to as T6) dispatched to investigate and, if necessary, initiate Containment Protocol S59-███ (for mission logs, see Document S59-02).
T6 arrived on-site, made contact with unknown life forms - assumed to be SCP-XXXX-02-41- and were engaged in combat. Radio contact with T6 was lost roughly ten (10) minutes later. Reports received from T6 before contact was lost indicate that SCP-XXXX-02-41 was using telekinesis, direct telepathic assault, and pyrokinesis in combat.
After two hours, contact with T6 was reestablished and the situation was deemed under control. All instances of SCP-XXXX-02-41 were reported to have returned to their pods, and fallen back into the state of minimal brain activity that they had previously been in. All on-site personnel reported missing and presumed dead. To view T6's mission logs, please refer to Document S59-02.

I just arrived at Site-59 three weeks ago, and I already miss my assignment at ██████████, though I guess the weather here is nicer. SCP-XXXX is creepy, it’s just this huge black machine that just…sits there. And hums. And looks weird.
I’ve been working with Dr. Grant ██████ and Dr. ████ █████ though, who I was working with way back when we were all stationed together at ████, so at least there’s that. And Grant is my roommate, which is perfect because he and I have always gotten along great.
We’re supposed to go and try cutting into one of the pods with some new acid that the chemists at the scientific department over at Site ██ worked up. I doubt it will work, though.
(8:43 PM, it didn’t work.)

I've felt really weird lately. I feel like there’s something I’m supposed to remember, but I can’t remember it. It’s just sitting there in the back of my mind, taunting me. I talked to Grant about it and he said I probably should bring it up during the psych evaluations tomorrow. I’m not sure I want to, though…I feel like that’s the kind of thing that gets people “terminated”.
One of the other research teams tried blasting SCP-XXXX with Gamma radiation this morning. Not sure why, but we’ve gotta wait for the cleanup crew to get all the radiation cleared up before we can go in and perform our own scheduled test. I think we’re supposed to try to detach one of the pods without an active brainwave pattern in it today or something.

That’s what’s been at the back of my mind for so long.
I can’t sleep anymore. It’s driving me crazy.
I know that they’re words, but I don’t know what they are. They’re just…just beyond my reach. I keep trying to think of what they are but I fucking can’t.
I can’t tell Grant about this, he’ll report me. He’s my friend, but he’s a scientist first. I’m a liability now. I’m going crazy. They’ll fucking kill me first chance they get.

Addendum-B
During the time frame of Incident S59-1M-04, seismic activity matching that recorded at Site-59 was detected at sixty-two (62) other locations across the globe. Investigations of these locations have revealed more site containing towers and circular objects like that of SCP-XXXX, though these secondary locations do not contain pods like those found on the side of SCP-XXXX. These secondary sites have been designated SCP-XXXX-B-01-62 and have been placed under guard and observation.
It is suspected that, due to the increasing frequency and magnitude of incidents, SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-B-01-62 all present a clear and persisting threat to humanity. It has been speculated that the intended function of SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-B-01-62 is to allow a worldwide invasion from being like SCP-XXXX-02-41. This would most likely result in an IK-Class end-of-the-world scenario. Research into countermeasures against such an event is currently being conducted.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large machine of unknown origins or intentions. Researchers have tentatively designated it as a BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) based on the very large quantity of beta-type neural oscillation waves that the machine emits. These beta waves are very high in frequency, measuring between 20.5 Hz and 28 Hz. Also radiated by the machine is an unknown type of electromagnetic oscillation that ranges between 45 Hz and 65 Hz, dubbed 'Eta waves' by researchers. Both signals emitted by the machine are cognitohazardous (See Document S59-1 for complete report) It is unknown if there are other signals given off by SCP-XXXX that the current instruments in use are unable to detect.
I'LL HIT YOU. STOP READING THIS.
The machine is composed of an unknown metal that reflects very little light (.021 kcd/m2), and has withstood direct impacts of up to 800 N. The machine itself is made up of a central, cylindrical tower measuring three and a half (3.5) meters in diameter and six (6) meters in height, with forty-seven (47) cylindrical pods measuring one (1) meter in diameter and four (4) meters in length protruding from the side. Every ten (10) minutes, vents located on the ends of these pods open and release a white mist into the air. The mist measures 75° Kelvin and is composed of dihydrogen monoxide (H2O, water). It is unknown how the water emitted by SCP-XXXX does not freeze due to the temperature.
Scans of the pods have shown that they contain life forms, known collectively as SCP-XXXX-02-41 that very closely resemble humans in brain activity, but differ enough to be assumed as a separate species. Only forty (40) out of the forty-seven (47) assumed specimens show any detectible brain activity. Their physical appearance and origin are both unknown due to the inability of researchers to breach the pods.
