Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Rank: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
The three locations where SCP-XXX is located are to be surrounded by a moderate-security fence, with bases positioned on each side of the enclosure. , under the disguise of a wildlife preserve. No unauthorized personnel are allowed to enter; should civilians attempt entry, guards are to execute Procedure XXX-1. Every base must be equipped fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and [REDACTED-SEE DOCUMENT-XXX FOR DETAILS.] In the event of a new specimen occurring outside the bases, a retrieval unit under the disguise of a botanical institute will extract the item and move it to one of the three containment areas (See below). Due to the nature of SCP-XXX, there must be no open flames of any kind brought to any of the sites. In the event of a storm, all personnel will report to their stations in Level 3 Heat-protection suits.
Description:
SCP-XXX is a phenomenon affecting plant life (Plants infected with SCP-XXX are hereafter referred to as SCP-XXX-1). SCP-XXX is undetectable until the specimens of SCP-XXX-1 is burned, when specimens of SCP-XXX-2 emerge. As of this writing there is no way to permanently destroy an example of SCP-XXX.
In the first stage of infection, it is physically indistinguishable from normal, uninfected plants. However, specimens of SCP-XXX-1 are extremely flammable, and will burn in the presence of any flame, spark, or anything of that ilk. If SCP-XXX-1 is burned, it will progress to stage 2.
After SCP-XXX-1 has been burned a flame-based organism (designated SCP-XXX-2) emerges. The size of a specimen of SCP-XXX-2 is directly proportional to the mass of SCP-XXX-1 burned. A specimen of SCP-XXX-2 will remain active until ‘extinguished’ ( it should be noted that rain and low-pressure water is not effective; any personnel attempting to extinguish a specimen should use the provided fire extinguishers.) Upon extinguishment, the specimen will ‘die’ and lie dormant until another form of plant life grows in the ground where the specimen ‘died,’ when the plant will become a specimen of SCP-XXX-1.
SCP-XXX-2 takes the form of a (generally) spherical or ‘jellyfish-shaped’ flame, although each specimen will have a different color. If viewed by a subject from within 30 meters with no obstruction, the viewer will see the SCP-XXX-2’s normal form. However, if the subject’s view is obscured, or they are farther than 30 meters away, they will see SCP-XXX-2 as a floating light. The subject may also experience a mild psychic urge to chase after SCP-XXX-2 that grows stronger as they run toward it, believing it to be a path to freedom, even if they had previously known that they were isolated.
SCP-XXX is currently contained in three quarantined forest environments in [REDACTED], Scotland, 89108910, Brazil, and [DATA EXPUNGED.]These locations were selected to support the various forms of SCP-XXX-1. SCP-XXX appears to grow mainly in moist forest environments, and the greatest concentrations of specimens are in a swamp or marsh environment.
███████
Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX can be kept in a standard humanoid containment unit, although all furniture in clothing must be modified to suit its physical structure. It is to be escorted to physical therapy with Dr. ███████ , psychotherapy with Dr. ██, and English lessons with Dr. ████ every day. SCP-XXX should be under constant surveillance, with a nurse standing by in case SCP-XXX attempts communication. SCP-XXX has made no requests.
Description: SCP-XXX is a female winged humanoid, apparently be between the ages of 9-12, who has gone under extreme physical torture. The wings have been partially removed, and the remains cauterized, as well as being dislocated from SCP-XXX’s back. Its tongue has also gone under multiple [REDACTED], making vocalization possible, but extremely painful. Its body is covered in scars (cauterized) shaped like the number 17 and the phrase [DATA EXPUNGED] in multiple languages, including some last used in 300 AD, as well as at least one unknown. SCP-XXX is currently being suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
SCP-XXX was discovered during a Foundation raid on [DATA EXPUNGED] (See Document XXX-1); however, they had apparently received it a short time before, and were unaware of SCP-XXX’s original captors.
It is unknown if other specimens similar to SCP-XXX exist.
