Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Appointed Euclid as of ██/██/██ see Addendum XXXX-1

Special Containment Procedures: All unused instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in a standard Foundation locker. Instances used for energy generation are to be kept under 24 hour guard and applied with Level 9 security measures. Personnel are reminded to wear protection when handling SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is to be exchanged for a new instance every six months.

Procedure update/ ██/██/██: All instances of SCP-XXXX not absolutely vital to facility performance are to be sequestered at Site ██ in a standard double-failsafed locker. Facilities that still require the use of SCP-XXXX are to utilize "Gray Mode" procedures no less than five time per month. Also, the instance is to be rotated with one of the contained instances every two months. Strict charter of the amount of use each object is required and to be adhered to every instance of SCP-XXXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation given to any of a number of a specific variety of rose colored crystals. These crystals contain vast amounts of electromagnetic energy as well as a small gravimetric presence. Personnel are once again reminded to wear protection when handling SCP-XXXX because of these features.

The first instances of SCP-XXXX were discovered on ██/██/██ in █████████, at a set of ruins uncovered by Foundation agents of the time. The crystals were found in an apparent king's tomb within a sarcophagus bearing the insription "Those that are neither here nor there." They were then documented and sent to Site ██ for storage and testing.

Great amounts of electricity can be extracted from SCP-XXXX, which prompted the Foundation to create a system to power its facilities utilizing the crystals. With this system in place, enough power is extraced to power large facilites solely on a single crystal for an estimated eleven to thirteen months. (See Addendum XXXX-1 for information on this estimate)

Addendum XXXX-1: During a routine calculation of SCP-XXXX-█'s remaining electrical output, researchers noticed that SCP-XXXX-█'s gravimetric presence had increased in almost direct proportion to the decrease in its electromagnetic field. While this phenomena was under study, guards in the generation chamber had begun to complain of noises they couldn't find the source of. As more time passed a greater number of complaints began of even more sounds, from quiet whispers to sudden shrieks, as well as sudden localized brownouts. All of these events were eventually attributed to SCP-XXXX-█ by O5 command, which ordered the removal of SCP-XXXX as a primary power source for the Foundation. Currently, 47% of Foundation holdings are completely free of SCP-XXXX power. However, 39% of facilities are still partially dependent on crystal power (these facilities are currently being retrofitted with generators), and 14% are still completely dependent on SCP-XXXX. These facilities were built to run solely on crystal power, and the Foundation has not yet found a suitable alternative to powering these holdings.
