Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Foundation satellites are to continually monitor wildebeest populations in Southern Africa. In the event of SCP-XXXX occurring, MTF-Nu-1 (GNU-1) are to be deployed in order to terminate all existing instances of SCP-XXXX-1 via the application of high-intensity gamma emitting weaponry.
In the event the number of SCP-XXXX-1 instances exceed the permissible amount, and containment can not be ensured, mass-scale application of orbital gamma weaponry, and the use of SCP-2000 are permitted.
Plans for the widespread eradication of blue wildebeest are currently awaiting ruling from the Ethics Committee.
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to an event sporadically occurring within certain populations of Connochaetes taurinus, commonly known as blue wildebeest, in which a member of the population will spontaneously undergo a form of asexual reproduction most akin to budding. During an SCP-XXXX event, the primary wildebeest (referred to hereon as SCP-XXXX-1) will rapidly consume an amount of matter, both organic and inorganic, of the same mass as the SCP-XXXX-1 instance. This process takes an average of three minutes, and despite causing extreme distention of the stomach of the instance appears to cause no physical pain or discomfort; aside from the rapid ingestion of matter, the instance follows behaviours normal for the species. Approximately twenty seconds after the initial stage is complete, a bulbous mass begins to form on the anterior of the SCP-XXXX-1 instance. This mass quickly forms into a fully developed clone of the SCP-XXXX-1 instance (SCP-XXXX-2), which after a short period of time will detach from SCP-XXXX-1. The process then begins again, with both SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 continuing the process. This occurs exponentially and, although not confirmed, most likely indefinitely.
SCP-XXXX-n instances will consume any and all matter available to them, with the exception of other SCP-XXXX-n instances. During the feeding process, instances are extremely resilient, as they will readily absorb any matter that happens to come into contact with them, such as non-effected wildebeest, bullets, and predators.
