Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Individuals affected by SCP-XXXX are to be isolated in quarters located on site██. They are to be provided with food, water, and other necessities without direct contact with foundation personnel. Once a week, personnel with Level 4 clearance or higher are to enter the quarters, and discuss any needs, problems, or changes in behavior with infected individuals. If any individuals inside are suspected of entering the second stage of SCP-XXXX, they are to be separated, and then terminated. After interactions with infected individuals have concluded, all personnel that came into contact with them are to be administered class-C amnesiacs.
In case of SCP-XXXX infection breaking containment, all contact with those outside the facility is to be cut. Individuals that had slept since initial point of contact are to be immediately quarantined. After all have been quarantined, Class C amnesiac is to be administered to all remaining staff.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a memetic dream that can transfer between individuals if mention is made of its content. Those that hear the content will remain uninfected until their first sleep cycle. The moment they begin to dream they are to be considered infected. Whenever they wake, they fully believe in the contents of SCP-XXXX. Their reaction depends on specific variances on the outcome they experienced during the dream, but any mention they make of the contents from this point will begin the transfer process.
Though the specific dream varies from person to person, there are always constants in the details of what is contained within. The sleeping individual meets a young boy, assumed to be of Middle Eastern descent, named Russell. This boy always experiences some sort of near death experience, which the dreamer saves them from. The individual always creates a bond with the boy, before the boy is separated from them for a time for varying reasons. Depending on the reactions of the individuals dreaming, there are a number of final outcomes. They can adopt the boy, keep in touch with the boy, lose contact with the boy, or learn of the boy’s death.
All cases in which contact is continued with the boy are considered to be actively contagious, for as the individual seeks the boy out, they contaminate all they speak with about him. These cases are also considered dangerous, for they are more likely to enter the second stage of SCP-XXXX. Individuals that lost contact with the boy are considered to be carriers, as it is not readily visible that they were infected, they can, however contaminate anyone they ever mention the boy to.
The second stage of SCP-XXXX occurs when an individual realizes that the contents of SCP-XXXX were a dream. For approximately two months, there is no abnormal change in their behavior other than any grief or conflict they might naturally go through due to the realization. However, after that point, anything they do not have direct exposure to after a set amount of time they also believe to not exist. The more that they begin to lose belief in things, the smaller the set amount of time it takes to lose belief becomes. Reactions to this vary, but the most common reactions are violent outburst or suicidal tendencies. Due to the danger individuals infected by SCP-XXXX’s second stage present, they are to be terminated.
