Deleted because: It's a random object that does random effect, the complete lack of connection between the object and its effects bugs me. A big problem is you get certain medieval objects with purely positive or negative effects related to their use and they sound too close to magic/cursed items from D&D. Also, you can easily lock it away in a chest and forget about it.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1078 is to be contained in a storage locker in Site-19. If SCP-1078 is to be handled or moved from containment, involved personnel are to be isolated to a padded cell for a twelve (12) hour period until the effects of SCP-1078 have worn off.
Description: SCP-1078 is a painted parade shield, depicting a knight pledging his service to a lady. The figure to the right of the knight has been identified as [DATA EXPUNGED]. Materials analysis has determined that the shield was painted in the late 15th century, while the wood has been dated as far back as ███.
When coming within ten (10) feet of SCP-1078, subjects experience a █% decrease in heart rate. Moderate pupil dilation has also been noted. Subjects seem to be unaware of the physiological change, though several have mentioned a slight feeling of sluggishness. These symptoms begin slowly, then stabilize after approximately five (5) minutes. Once contact with SCP-1078 has been broken, vital signs return to previous levels after a few seconds.
The most troubling effect will arise if subjects make physical contact with SCP-1078, lasting as long as twelve (12) hours after contact. Subjects experience increased skin sensitivity, and will easily bruise from any physical contact. Bruised areas quickly escalate to a state of hematoma. Combining with [REDACTED], the pooled blood will harden into rigid scabs underneath the surface of the skin. The resulting scabs can grow up to █ cm in thickness before the hardening process has completed. If the skin above the bruise is broken, blood will coagulate within seconds, preventing relief of hematoma sites.
During this period, red blood cell production increases in the bone marrow, preventing death by blood loss in the majority of subjects. Once the effects of SCP-1078 have worn off, scabs will be permanently embedded in the subject's skin. If mobility of limbs has decreased, subjects tend toward using unaffected limbs, but will continue to use affected limbs in applicable situations. After one (1) week, skin covering scabbed areas will begin to loosen and flake off. Fully exposed scabs will begin to take on a dark gray color, due to exposure and [REDACTED].
Affected areas of the skin have proven to resist both cuts and blunt force trauma. Due to the high durability of scabbed regions, subjects may start placing themselves in higher risk situations. Those who have experienced over 40% conversion, known as SCP-1078-1, have scored significantly higher on psychological examinations aimed toward violent behavior.
