SCP-XXXX during recovery

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in the Safe Objects Containment Area on level 3 of Site ██.

SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an airtight chamber on level ██ of Site ██. In addition, subject is to be restrained with metal bars locked around its waist, limbs, and torso. Barometers are to be embedded within the containment chamber to monitor the air pressure within.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a Russian Orlan-D model space suit, used by Cosmonauts in the Russian Space Program in the 1970s. It was recovered in February of ████ by ST-16 "Circuit Breaker" after reports of disappearances and strange sightings in the town of [REDACTED].

SCP-XXXX's anomalous effect extends for a radius of approximately 18 meters. When approaching the suit, air pressure will continually drop, with a complete vacuum existing for 5 meters around it. As a side effect of this lowered air pressure, sound volume is greatly reduced, with total silence within the vacuum zone.

The object is capable of independent movement, and will walk aimlessly until it encounters a human. Once the subject does locate a human, it will attempt to approach them, and will follow them until it sights another person. SCP-XXXX will pursue whoever it spots relentlessly, stopping its chase only when switching targets or damaged. Once the victim enters the radius of effect, SCP-XXXX will begin to pick up its speed, shifting smoothly from a lethargic walk to a full sprint as the subject gets closer. Testing has revealed it to have a top speed between 80 and 88 kilometers per hour (50-56 miles per hour). Once it finally reaches its target, it will reach out, grab them, and maintain a firm grip until the victim expires from lack of oxygen (Targets wearing air-tight suits will not be released until SCP-XXXX is damaged). SCP-XXXX has proved quite resourceful when "hunting". In the past, it has crawled through air vents, broken windows, and even cut the power of buildings.

SCP-XXXX appears to be filled with pressurized air, much like a normal spacesuit, albeit with a seemingly unlimited supply. If the subject is damaged, a thick white steam will be released from within the suit, and SCP-XXXX will immediately flee and seek to repair the hole. The most common behavior of the object when damaged is to seek out some form of adhesive tape, cloth, or bandage that can be used to create an airtight seal, and plug its "wounds" with such. If the damage to the suit is not plugged quickly, the escaping air will slowly reduce the area of anomalous effect and restore surrounding air to its normal, breathable density. As more and more air is lost, SCP-XXXX will move slower and become weaker, until it eventually collapses. Once it collapses it is, for all intents and purposes, a normal spacesuit. SCP-XXXX will also begin to lose air if the visor is opened, or the suit's seal is broken in any other way.

Addendum ██/██/████: 2 weeks after returning the object to Site ██, it was discovered that damage done to SCP-XXXX will slowly "heal". Once all damage has healed, the object will resume its anomalous activity and become animate again. 16 D-Class were killed in the subsequent containment breach.
