Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX has been demonstrated to be completely harmless and, as such, requires no significant special containment procedures. It is currently housed in the Site-19 Library under the care of Archivist N█████.
Description: SCP-XXX is a thirty-centimeter long Maglite brand flashlight of the type made between ████ and ████. The flashlight has been inspected thoroughly and has been proven to have no inherent abnormal qualities, save for its advanced age. Carbon dating places SCP-XXX at around five hundred and fifty years old. It was originally recovered in ██████, Spain in 14██ by a group of franciscan monks. It was revered and preserved as a religious relic, until recovered by the Foundation in 18██. Research into SCP-XXX's origin is currently ongoing, and dispatch of Mobile Task Force Rho-5 is pending review.
Addendum: Upon testing, SCP-XXX was discovered to be mildly radioactive. It was shown to emit gamma and beta particles, as well as an as-yet-unidentified subatomic particle, tentatively dubbed Alexandrium Particles, after the researcher who discovered it. It is believed to be emitted by ███████████████ during [DATA EXPUNGED]. Considering the gravity of this discovery, immediate research was merited and ordered by 0-█. Mobile Task Force Nu-1 is currently studying SCP-XXX.

Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to be stored in Safe Item Holding Area 154 at Site 19 when not in use. Instructions and warnings on the use and hazards of SCP-XXX are to be posted in plain sight. Due to the object's value to the Foundation, two guards are to be stationed outside of Safe Item Holding Area 154 at all times. Access is to be granted by a triple biometric security lock tuned to both guards and Dr. Sterling. All testing is to be approved and supervised by Dr. Sterling.
Description: SCP-XXX is a 2.13 meter x 71.12 centimeter x 58.42 centimeter black mahogany burial casket built by [REDACTED]. Any corpse placed into SCP-XXX and then buried under at least two meters of soil reanimates within three days. SCP-XXX has no effect on living humans, animals, corpses which have been cremated or disintegrated, or on corpses which have been decapitated (unless the head is placed with the body, at which point reanimation takes place as usual).
To date, the Foundation has no means of detecting when reanimation has occurred, as any electronic devices placed inside of SCP-XXX fails to function. Though the process takes no more than three days, the time required for reanimation is entirely unpredictable and the process seems to take place at random, regardless of the extent of the injuries borne by the corpse. If a test subject is removed from SCP-XXX before reanimation is complete, the body remains inanimate, even if returned to SCP-XXX and reburied. As such, anyone using SCP-XXX on valuable personnel is required to wait a full three days before disinterment. Chemical glowsticks, oxygen, and supplies for three days are left within the casket, as well as instructions for those unfamiliar with the object's function. Recent attempts to drill a communication pipe into SCP-XXX failed as the casket quickly regenerated any damage done. Research is ongoing.
Object History: SCP-XXX was brought to the Foundation's attention in the Spring of 200█ after [DATA EXPUNGED]. When the victim was exhumed for a second autopsy, the marks from his first had vanished. Furthermore, while the victim's cause of death was originally filed as cranial trauma, his body was found intact and showed signs of post-burial suffocation. Additionally, his fingernails were broken, and the blood found on the interior of the casket lid was matched to his. Considering that the man had undergone autopsy and could not have been alive during his interment, the Foundation stepped in to investigate. Upon recreating the burial in laboratory and field conditions, using the original victim as a control, the casket's anomalous properties were determined.
Addendum XXX-1: Subjects returned to life by SCP-XXX are able to work and function normally, with one alteration: although their body systems, digestive organs, respiratory organs, and nervous systems continue working, their hearts do not beat. Blood flows as usual, though how this is accomplished remains a mystery.
Addendum XXX-2: The two researchers who underwent reanimation in SCP-XXX were subjected to mandatory psychological evaluations on ██/██/████ and ██/██/████. Both were found to suffer from post traumatic stress and claustrophobia, as expected. Additionally, both subjects demonstrated increased egocentrism and introversion, as well as severely decreased empathy levels. They were described as acting "excessively polite" and being "extremely disconcerting," and their IQs were shown to have increased by ten and fifteen points, respectively. Further research is disallowed pending investigation.
