Item #: SCP-1029
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1029 is currently held in an isolated containment cell at Site-12, accessible to Level 2 or higher on-site staff for testing. It is currently kept under constant video surveillance for any signs of growth or alteration, and in either case on-site lockdown should be initiated. Due to the infectious nature of SCP-1029, no form of writing, be it physical, digital or otherwise, is allowed within 50 m of its containment cell. All personnel handling SCP-1029 should be devoid of any tattoos or other body markings, and equipped only with clothing designed without any manufacturing marks, words, or symbols on them. After contact with SCP-1029, testing personnel shall be interviewed one-by-one via intercom, and asked a series of test questions. A short writing test is also to be performed to confirm that they have not contracted the effect. Both tests and their respective test operators should be, in turn, observed unknowingly by a second set of testers.
Description: SCP-1029 manifests as a 5m diameter (± 0.5m), amorphous spherical area in which any word, phrase, or describable concept is adopted; the "idea" is then implemented into any literary or audial material that comes within contact with the area. This effect has been observed in physical documents and printing, electronic data, advertisements1, and even mental thoughts and speech patterns. Any persons affected within the area by this are initially unaware to the change, but are able to notice it if specifically mentioned. The easiest way for SCP-1029 to thrive is by adapting itself to a host individual that it comes into contact with. In such a case, it will take the guise of a specific phrase, idea, or word the subject is placing a high amount of focus or importance upon. The previous incarnations SCP-1029 has adopted have been:
- "Just breathe they're not looking at you you know it's all just in your head."
- "dontforget" [sic]
- "chance reason time of season" [sic]
- A pattern of dots which when transferred to a sheet of music was identified as the melody to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by The Beatles
- [REDACTED] corresponded with current credit card and PIN to Researcher R████████
- "Cell 4 is █, ██-█, cell 5 is █, ██-█"
The current phrases, "the eyes on the wall" and "theyre looking at me arent they [sic]," were adopted from a St. A████████ Asylum patient who had expired by stroke-induced coma inside his cell following infection during Containment Breach 12-██/19██. Both phrases can be observed in SCP-1029's current holding cell, scratched into the walls, ceiling, and floor repeatedly in a scrawled text and intermittent phrasing.
Once with a host, and a concept to manifest as, the area is "anchored" to the host, moving with him or her, and altering material that comes within the area-of-effect. In any situation where no available subject matter is present to affect, SCP-1029 will slowly overtake the subject's own thoughts.2 Without a host to adhere to, SCP-1029 will slowly adapt the current subject into its material surroundings by unknown means, first etching itself into the softer materials present, (typically wood and loose materials like dirt and sand), followed by denser materials, (like stone and metal).3
Addendum SCP-1029 1: Observation as of 3/1█/19██ has shown the testing chamber and hallway leading to SCP-1029's containment cell have become affected, and are hereby to be considered extensions of its cell. Several typos have appeared in the more recent iterations of the currently adopted phrases, as well as the text appearing in a less-uniform font. An additional testing chamber has been added further along the hallway, though the effect is steadily advancing at a rate of 0.3m each month. This stretch of containment is being reinforced with denser materials, and new containment procedures are currently being researched to diminish this effect.

An extremely volatile accumulation of SCP-XXX fibers. |
---|
Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXX are currently contained in a total of █ separate air-tight glass research cylinders, stored in the secure locker of Site-27's freezer. The door to the freezer shall be guarded by a bank vault lock, with the combination to be changed every 2 weeks, with access only allowed to Level 3 or higher research personnel. In the case of a Upsilon-4 containment breach, all personnel on-site are to don proper biohazard filtration suits, and the air filtration system to the incinerator shall be activated. No one shall be able to leave or enter the site, nor remove their safety gear until the all-clear is sent by Site Director ██████.
Description: SCP-XXX consists of a previously-unknown form of asbestos, visually similar to most silicates used in past construction, with series of fibers measuring from 0.01µm to 6µm, though with a noticeably small natural average of 0.2µm. However, the fibers form only in relatively cold temperatures (in the range of 16°C and below), after which they begin a slow thawing process. The anomalous property of the mineral becomes apparent at this stage: when a high enough concentration of mineral fibers reaches a temperature exceeding 17°C total, the fibers undergo an unknown method of transmutation, "flash-forming" into an extremely volatile plasma like substance, which dissipates quickly, though not without scorching (or in many cases, melting) the surface it was formed on.
The initial instance of SCP-XXX was first discovered in a S█████ Office Complex cooling vent after an electrical malfunction of the duct's fan, with a total seven (7) employees exposed to the asbestos. Among these was Stanley P██████, a retired Foundation employee, who contacted the Foundation after the employees were treated at the nearby hospital, with the cause of injury (as well as death in two cases) being cited as asbestosis.
After recovery, Mr. P██████ claimed that the sensation of the exposure was "unlike any common ailment," and that immediately after the event, he could taste a metallic tinge from the back of his throat while observing small curls of smoke in his breath. Foundation Medics enacting a medical on him after his release from the hospital confirmed that while not visible on x-ray scans, by using an endoscope discovered Mr. P██████'s lungs had in fact experienced moderate singing and scarring in an extremely irregular pattern. Soon after, the S█████ Office instance of SCP-XXX was recovered and contained.
Foundation scientists have reproduced SCP-XXX to nearly three times its original total mass through cooling and separation. Research is currently underway to analyze SCP-XXX's chemical and molecular structure and nature, as well as possible forms of weaponization or other uses.

The following test was performed to record effects of long-term exposure in an affected individual. Conditions were that the subject, D-7533, was participating in a (placebo) medication test. Any symptoms were responded to as being from the medication. SCP-XXX was integrated to the subject's environment through the filtration system in amounts consistent with most asbestos-affected buildings. Additionally, the room was kept at a low 18°C to prevent premature ignition or transmutation of the material.
0days 0hours 0 minutes : Subject placed in containment, administered medication and given instructions of usage. SCP-XXX begun filtering in with air.
0days 12hours 44minutes : Subject complains of staleness of air. No symptoms present.
Note: For the next three days, the subject reports no ill feelings or symptoms of any illness.
3days 13hours 23minutes : The first prominent signs of ailment are reported by the subject, claiming he is experiencing slight breathing trouble.
3days 15hours 56minutes : Subject reports additional throat pains, and requests the dosage be decreased. Request denied. First examination performed at this time, with results showing that SCP-XXX fibers had infected the majority of the subject's right middle and inferior lobes.
4days 3hours 15minutes : Subject reports increased trouble breathing, as well as irritation of entire throat and chest pains. Requested to be removed from experiment, with request denied. Subject given low-grade sedatives. Second examination at this time showed that the entirety of subject's right lung had become coated in SCP-XXX fibers, but had not transmutated due to the spacing between them, likely caused by the cooled conditions. Subject's left inferior lobe and trachea both showed signs of slight infection.
5days 7hours 29minutes : Subject in labored breathing, reports extreme pain from within chest, descibed as a "jolt of restriction," in addition to coughing up copious amounts of blood. Third examination performed, with endoscopic imaging showing that the pain was being caused by a connected line of fibers in subject's right lung. Testing personnel removed for safety purposes, and subject left for observation.
5days 7hours 34minutes : Subject observed to begin convulsing in pain, with blood now excessively dripping from his mouth. A thick, bubbling mucous fluid (later identified as liquified remains of subject's bronchiole and trachea lining) was also observed to escape orally, destroying the most of the subject's jawline. Soon after, the subject's upper chest cavity caved in, revealing that the contents of his lungs were beginning to melt through his ribs and shirt, reeling his hand back in pain. Inaudible gurgling was elicited once the plasmic fluid completely deteriorated his chest cavity, followed by death of the subject. Volatile effect of fluid continued for a following 3 minutes and 54 seconds, after which test was ended.

Item #: SCP-XXX-J
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX-J is to be kept in a standard Class-H psychic-negating containment cell, with basic necessities, and allowance to any items it so desires, so long as they do not break security measures (see Incident XXX-07).
Description: SCP-XXX-J is a caucasian male between the ages of 1█ and 2█. All medical tests have shown no anomalies from a healthy individual of this background, save for SCP-XXX-J's ability to refrain from aging. It is not known how XXX manages this, and quite honestly, due to the number of other subjects with this ability, nobody at XXX's site cares.
SCP-XXX seems to possess the ability to subconsciously influence the interests and actions of people around it

Idea: Sort of "abandoned megatropolis," all branching out from main building - structures are shown to be abandoned, but also feature advanced building methods & projects that would exceed modern-day costs and working needs of most city buildings.

Idea: An abandoned home or building where constant criminal activity, murder victims, corpses or other strange happenings occur, but no evidence of foul play is ever found, and all investigations turn up empty.
Similar Articles: The Abandoned Rowhouse - has a different anomalous effect, but similar concept, with the final line showing evidence of someone in it.

Idea: "The Time Police" - a time officer from the future, sent back in time as part of an "experiment" (eventually revealed to be a really bad officer that they just wanted to get rid of), who can tell when short-term future crimes will happen, but only thanks to the aid of an advanced microchip implanted in his spinal cord. The Foundation tries to observe it, but removing it would lead to his death. He's fussy, not the most cooperative, tends to jump on personnel every so often, and is basically a bitch to be around. Though, thanks to his ability, he's kept around suspected splinter agents.

SCP-XXX, on wall inside Containment at Site 1█. |
---|
Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to remain in Containment Cell █ of Site 1█, with the door to be guarded by no less than two (2) Level 3 Security Guards on duty at all times. Monthly maintenance should be performed on SCP-XXX as any other piece of equipment on-site would, though those repairing the subject should make sure to wear precautionary hearing protection. The alarm on SCP-XXX should not be triggered under any circumstances unapproved by testing officials.
Description: SCP-XXX is a small, chromed electric wall bell, ca. 1890s. Connected to the lower workings of the device is a double-wrapped copper wire, roughly 20 m. long, ending with a small 7.5 cm. x 5 cm. x 2.5 cm. lead box, equipped with a single button. Further analysis has indicated no anomalies exist inside or outside the device, and that the bell should act the same as any other. "R0-0045" appears as the only identifying mark, printed into the center back. Whether this is a serial number or alternative identification is currently unknown.
Observation and basic interaction with the bell causes no harm or noticeable effects on persons. However, once SCP-XXX is remotely rung by its connected trigger, any persons within a 15 m. diameter circle that hear the sound experience an involuntary increase of production in both the thyroid and adrenal glands. The subject also gains a compulsion to "work," (utilizing any tools or machinery in the area, and following basic instructions without question), which they spend their excess energy doing, slightly lowering their heart rate. It is still fully possible for the subject to speak and think independently from their actions, though attempting to resist the compulsion is considered detrimental to their health. Additionally, the brain activity of subjects under this effect becomes akin to a trance-like state, increasing their tolerance to both pain and exhaustion higher than normally expected. Situations tested under a faux-factory setting are as follows:
- Dismemberment
- Crushed bones
- Sprained and strained joints
- Malnutrition
- Low-grade sedatives
- Low-grade hallucinogens4
In all cases, the subject was observed to pay little attention to their detrimental state, wrapping wounds in strips of their clothing, or ignoring them altogether, and continuing their work. Subjects typically expired soon after due to blood loss or cardiac arrest. Other subjects under the effect showed no adverse reaction to deaths, simply walking around or stepping over the corpse.
No manifestation of the effect has been shown to last for any more than four (4) hours, and can be ended by ringing the bell a second time. Testing personnel should be reminded that these anomalous effects do not exclude the operator.
Initial Containment: SCP-XXX was recovered from Tsun ███ ██████, the owner of a Taiwanese child sweatshop factory, after an abnormally high death rate for workers were issued to authorities by family members. First thought to be a simple case of child labor abuse and overworking, Agent Petrov ███████, an undercover peacekeeper, was ordered to stake out the factory. He however deduced that stronger forces were at work after observing workers to stay at their stations even in the case of severe injury, dismemberment, [EXPUNGED], and a single case of [REDACTED] abuse. MTF-77 ("Door Busters") was assigned to raid the factory, in the guise of local law enforcement.
After claiming the factory, the child workers continued their work, unabated by the recent firefight. The workers stayed unresponsive to all forms of outside stimuli, regardless of their condition. By pure coincidence, Agent Petrov triggered the factory bell while investigating Tsun ███'s office. Several children were observed to begin screaming and crying, while a number expired from exhaustion and fatigue, while MTF members and Foundation personnel were then observed to immediately take their places, and began attempting to finish what products remained on the factory line.
Addendum: It has come to the Foundation's attention that several instances of factory bells bearing significant resemblance to SCP-1049 have been observed in factories across the [REDACTED], Europe, and the United States. Primarily, C███████ Steel Mills and remnants of the Chicago [REDACTED]. So far, ██ instances have been recovered, and are awaiting testing and repair.
Yeah let's not make a novel out of this
Characters:
- Daniel (Prot.)
- Anna
- Two researcher friends of Daniel
- Head researcher for SCP-702
Plot: Begin with some foreword in Daniel's mind about love, etc, and mention the watch his grandfather gave him. Move on to the meeting at the site where Daniel volunteers to give up his own sentimental object. He goes to lunch with two other researchers, thinks about his life, tells them how he feels he failed his grandfather and that he should give it up and just end his family tree. The test goes as planned, but what he gets in return is a valentine he gave to his childhood love. That love is in fact the woman next to the head researcher, who beings crying, while Daniel is left to realize that it wasn't unrequited love in his life, it's just love that never got back to him. Addendum states "Researcher [Daniel] and Professor [Anna] have peacefully retired from the Foundation, and are living together happily in rural ██ with a son on the way."
Mondays suck.
Phil hated to agree with Garfield’s old saying, but his entire weekend had been ruined. The weather during his drive to work had been drab, the kind of dull gray cement has when it’s lost even its own rocky luster. There had been no new assignments over the weekend, so it seemed the week would never end. Hopefully there would be a containment breach, he hoped to himself. Either that or something at a neighbor site so that he could finally get off his ass and do something.
Even the young recruit manning the tollbooth as he passed his identification card over seemed rather empty, as though this day was meant for some other plans that needed to go cancelled.

Agent [REDACTED]: Agents, be on alert.
Agent Redshirt: Y, [REDACTED]. Whats goin on?
O5-█: Redshirt, please refrain from using 'chat speak'. We have a reputation to live up to. Continue, [REDACTED].
Agent [REDACTED]: Thank you, sir. As I was saying, fellow agents, be alert. It has been reported that SCP-[INFORMATION LOST] has escaped containment.
Clef: WHAT? Again?
Bright: Oh, bugger.
Rights: How did this happen, Agent [REDACTED]?
Agent [REDACTED]: Well, ma'am, we believe that SCP-[INFORMATION LOST]'s security measures were somehow hacked by an external source.
Bright: Who was it this time? The Chaos Insurgency? The Serpent's Hand? Wikileaks?
Agent [REDACTED]: Worse, Doctor Bright. Far worse.
Clef: Well, who do you think did it? SPIT IT OUT, DAMMIT!
Agent [REDACTED]: Well, sir, judging by the proxies, we believe that the hackers were members of…./█/.
Rights: My god.
Bright: We're truly boned this time.
Clef: Now, now. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Those idiots can't possibly know what SCP-[INFORMATION LOST] is capable of.
O5-██: I beg to differ, Dr. Clef. Agent [REDACTED], contact all Mobile Task Force units.
Agent [REDACTED]: yes, sir.
=Agent [REDACTED] left
O5-██: As for the rest of you, raise the alarm to Potential-XK Threat. We must put a stop to this, before it is too late.To be continued(?)
In front of Clef, the new researcher sat beaming, eagerly awaiting an answer to his personal fan fiction of the heads of staff. Behind his desk Bright shifted uncomfortably, clad from chest-up in a torso cast, metal beams jutting from a plastic circlet around his head. Another glance at the paper was all it took for him to set the document across this new member.
