Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-2, SCP-XXXX-3 and SCP-XXXX-4 are to be contained in a Class 3 containment vault with environmental regulation to prevent decay or damage. If located SCP-XXXX-1 is to be treated in the same manner. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1a, SCP-XXXX-2a and SCP-XXXX-3a are to be removed and immediately replaced with sanitized versions, utilizing server isolation protocol DSAXXXX, where appropriate. In order to avoid undue attention all replacements are to be put in place within 18 hours of detection. Instances of exposed individuals are only to be contained if they have been exposed to at least 2 trigger signals, the foundation does not at present have the resources or manpower to neutralize or monitor all instances.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 was constructed by [REDACTED], a sound and lighting engineer working in Hollywood. Connections to The Church of The Broken God are suspected, but there is no proof of such a connection. In or around 1982 he is believed to have constructed SCP-XXXX-1 and used it to imprint a 3 second segment of ████ ██ ████ (consisting of a pair of lines delivered by the lead actors) with a memetic signal. However the film was widely panned and received only a very limited release, meaning that the remaining 3 films where never made. It is thought that this is the reason why no further attempts where made to spread the signal. However in 20¦¦ the film became the target of several comedic internet reviews and the scene that carries the contaminated footage was included in its entirety, including the memetic signal. Worse the scene became, somewhat ironically, a minor meme and was reused in a range of unrelated internet footage. It was first detected when Dr ██████ noticed the effect while watching an internet video and by the time the Foundation intervened an estimated ██,███ individuals where infected. It is believed that this popularity of the clip is what caused [REDACTED] restart his plan. SCP-XXXX-2a and 3a where detected by teams conducting SCP-XXXX-1a containment sweeps and eventually lead back to [REDACTED], who died resisting detainment.

SCP-XXXX consists of several discrete parts.

SCP-XXXX-1 is missing, presumed destroyed. It is believed to have been called See and was likely a device along similar lines to SCP-XXXX 2 and 3, although presumably of larger size and cruder design.
SCP-XXXX-1a is the footage of the 1982 film ████ ██ ████ , originally intended to be part of a 4 part series. The designation also applies to any sampled footage of the film that carries the signal generated by SCP-XXXX-1. The memetic signal is believed to act as a primer for the other signals. In isolation its only effect is to cause a brief period of mild visual distortion. Repeat exposures have no further effect.
SCP-XXXX-2 is an electronic device, approximately 150mm along each side, constructed from parts of several commonly available consumer electronics, capable of generating a memetic signal that can become embedded in film or digital recordings. It is labeled Feel.
SCP-XXXX-2a is a clip of a hamster in a remote controlled plane, contaminated by the signal generated by SCP-XXXX-2. When a subject is exposed to SCP-XXXX-2a in isolation they experience a brief period where they feel colder than the ambient temperature should indicate. If the subject is exposed to both SCP-XXXX-1a and 2a (in any order) the sensation persists/recurs and is accompanied by persistent feelings of isolation and an inability to connect emotionally with other humans. Repeat exposures have no further effect.
SCP-XXXX-3 is an electronic device broadly similar to SCP-XXXX-2, labeled Think.
SCP-XXXX-3a is a popular remix of leaked footage of an interview of [REDACTED] conducted by his church, intended for internal use only but leaked on YouTube. When a subject is exposed to SCP-XXXX-3a in isolation they experience a brief period of mental distortion, often described as "feeling shocked" by the content of the film. If the subject is exposed to both SCP-XXXX-1a and 3a (in any order) they start to develop gradually less cynical and more philosophical mindsets. Repeat exposure has no further effect. Signals SCP-XXXX-2 and 3 seem independent of each other.
SCP-XXXX-4 are the designs for a device broadly similar to SCP-XXXX-2 and 3, labeled Believe. The designs are complete but there is not evidence that the device was ever constructed. Based on the notes found with the plans and examination of the signals by Foundation researchers, it is believed that SCP-XXXX-4 would work in a manner broadly similar to SCP-XXXX-1,2 and 3, but producing a signal that would only activate in the presence of an activated SCP-XXXX-2 and 3 signal. The exact effect of the signal is believed to be [REDACTED]
