Special Containment Procedures: SCP-ZZZZ cannot be contained with measures and knowledge currently at Foundation’s disposal, and, given uncertainty regarding its nature and underlying biology, it is so far impossible to predict exactly what measures and resources might be necessary to completely contain SCP-ZZZZ.
Efforts should be directed primarily at suppressing public awareness of SCP-ZZZZ and related phenomena.
Members of Mobile Task Force Iota-7 “Birdwatch” information control team are to monitor all printed, electronic and televised media, including private communications, for possible indications of SCP-ZZZZ being discovered by civilians and organizations not directly affiliated with Foundation.
Extra attention should be paid to scientific literature pertaining to zoology, biology, and rodent husbandry.
All leaks of information pertaining to SCP-ZZZZ via those vectors should be immediately dealt with by local Foundation D&D assets and Mobile Task Force Kappa-66 “Rattenfanger” personnel via combination of disinformation and suppression campaigns (see documents F-DD-1720 and U2-SC1 through U2-SC6 for further details).
In case information regarding SCP-ZZZZ reaches wide social and/or academic circulation, suppression campaigns are explicitly extended to include wide-scale deployment of AMN-868 within general population.
Mobile Task Force Kappa-66 “Rattenfanger” members embedded as workers of social and sanitation services are to monitor sewer system, maintenance and ventilation infrastructure, as well as derelict buildings and other low-traffic urban and rural areas for signs of ongoing SCP-ZZZZ infestation.
Upon detection, SCP-ZZZZ instances should be neutralized as per 02-Peta protocol (see document ZZZZ-02-Peta) unless a distinct SCP-ZZZZ-1 instance larger than 200cm along the largest dimension is present. When time and resources permit, such SCP-ZZZZ-1 instances should be non-traumatically retrieved as per 01-Rotundus procedure (see document ZZZZ-01-Rotundus) due to potential research value of well-developed SCP-ZZZZ-1. Upon retrieval of all large SCP-ZZZZ-1 instances, 02-Peta should proceed as normal.
In case time constraints or other circumstances prevent non-traumatic removal of large SCP-ZZZZ-1 specimens, field personnel is to include them in 02-Peta activities.
In the event that local resource, personnel or time constraints render enactment of 02-Peta problematic, field personnel is authorized to use resources at hand to neutralize SCP-ZZZZ. Corrosive and high-temperature modalities are methods of choice since gross gunshot trauma, laceration, crush trauma, blunt trauma and dismemberment of SCP-ZZZZ-1 and/or individual affected animals appear to have a very limited effect on overall course of SCP-ZZZZ event.
Upon completion of 02-Peta (or ad-hoc destructive neutralization as outlined above, if situation demanded that), the areas involved are to be placed under intensified monitoring for possible SCP-ZZZZ for a period of no less than 6 months. Areas cleared of SCP-ZZZZ presence via a non-standard procedure should be monitored for at least 12 months.
SCP-ZZZZ-1 instances recovered per 01-Rotundus are to be treated as BSL-3 biohazards and evaluated for possible research utility (as per checklist ZZZZ-13-EVAL or formal request form filed by Bio-Site 66 senior researcher and signed by head of Bio-Site 66 Pathogen Research-Division of Anomalous Pathogens).
Instances that do not warrant further investigation are to be incinerated in strict accordance with relevant biohazardous materials disposal protocols (see document BWD-013-22).
SCP-ZZZZ-1 instances deemed worthy of additional research effort are to be relocated to Bio-Site 66 (special relocation procedures might be necessary for exceptionally large specimens, see document ZZZZ-13-TRANSPORT).

Due to lack of proper understanding regarding cause of SCP-ZZZZ and full extent of its possible interactions with non-rodent fauna, caution should be exercised when dealing with SCP-ZZZZ. Personnel should treat SCP-ZZZZ-affected fauna as potential biohazard, and, if situation permits, wear personal protective equipment rated for BSL-2 work or higher.
While direct, unprotected exposure to SCP-ZZZZ is not known to cause any adverse effects in humans (or other lifeforms not closely related to Rattus norvegicus), it is generally not advisable and warrants additional medical scrutiny.
Foundation personnel who have experienced unprotected exposure to animals affected by SCP-ZZZZ, especially SCP-ZZZZ-1, should be placed in quarantine for two weeks. Upon release from quarantine, exposed personnel should undergo monthly checkups (see document ZZZZ-06-WW) for a period of no less than two years.
Non-Foundation personnel and civilians who have experienced unprotected exposure to animals affected by SCP-ZZZZ, especially SCP-ZZZZ-1, should undergo appropriate amnesiac treatment and placed in quarantine for two weeks. Appropriate cover story is to be arranged by Task Force Iota-7 “Birdwatch”. Upon release from quarantine, Non-Foundation personnel and civilians who underwent unprotected exposure should have their medical records monitored for a period of no less than six month.
Exposed civilians can be placed under life-long extended monitoring at discretion of head of Bio-Site 66 Pathogen Research-Division of Anomalous Pathogens.
