The door
Item #: SCP-XX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX is currently contained at Site ##, formerly ████ ████████████ Landfill at ████ ███████ █████, █████. Due to its immobility, meter-thick steel walls have been installed around the landfill. The discontinuation of dumping and installation of the site has been explained to the public as an uncontained biohazard within the landfill. Usage of Route Delta has been discontinued.
Under no circumstances are any temporally affecting or displaced SCPs to be brought within 500 meters of the site. Dumping is prohibited due to the possibility of unknown temporal SCPs coming into the proximity of SCP-XX. Personnel who have been directly affected by such SCPs are denied access to the site (See Addendum 2). No attempts to open SCP-XX, either by force or by ordinary means are to be permitted (See Addendum 3).
Should instances of SCP-XX-1 emerge, Site ## should be evacuated and stationed Task Force ?????? ("Doorstoppers") is to neutralize all remaining instances of SCP-XX-1 after destruction of the trigger.
Description: SCP-XX is a closed wooden door and door frame with a round brass knob, standing upright in the ████ ████████████ Landfill. To date, it has not yielded to any net force applied by either moving from its position or opening, and is both immovable and indestructible. Although fragments and splinters will fly off given sufficient force, the damage is only superficial, as no amount of chipping has damaged the door more than a centimeter deep in the surface.
When any temporally affecting or displaced objects or subjects (hereby designated the trigger) are brought within a 20 meter radius of SCP-XX, it will temporarily open and large insectoids, dubbed SCP-XX-1, will exit the door in swarms of numbers estimated from ███ to ███. SCP-XX-1 appear superficially similar to Blaberus giganteus but are several times longer, with body length varying from .4 to 1.2 meters. Additionally, the spines on their legs are disproportionally larger and much sharper, as well as capable of easily cutting through human flesh, while their bodies terminate in a stinger containing powerful neuro- and necrotoxins. It is currently unknown how their body structure supports the extra weight.
Upon emerging SCP-XX-1 will attack the trigger, along with all sentient beings in a 20 meter radius, using their legs and stingers to attack. They will not halt until all such beings and the trigger or themselves are destroyed, after which they retreat through SCP-XX. If all instances of SCP-XX-1 are neutralized before the trigger is, SCP-XX will open again and more instances of SCP-XX-1 will emerge until the trigger is destroyed. All pieces of the trigger will be picked up by surviving instances and taken through SCP-XX. If an item cannot be destroyed by SCP-XX-1, they will procure it and bring it through SCP-XX. Attempts to remove the trigger from the vicinity result in SCP-XX-1 following and attacking nearby personnel until the trigger has been neutralized or acquired by SCP-XX-1.
Dissection and chemical analysis has proven that SCP-XX-1 is unlikely to be terrestrial in origin, as the lifeforms are carbon-based but do not have any structures corresponding to DNA. They have a decentralized nervous system and as such can survive for a time without their head attached, similar to ordinary cockroaches. Due to SCP-XX-1's biology, neutralization of instances require removal of all limbs from the body or total annihilation. If the head of an instance is cut off, the body continues to attack blindly and indiscriminately.
SCP-XX was discovered during a retrieval of another suspected SCP within ███████████. To avoid public suspicion, the containment party traveled through designated Route Delta, which was found to cut directly through the 20 meter radius surrounding SCP-XX. As the vehicle containing the suspected SCP passed through the threshold a swarm of SCP-XX-1 exited and attacked, causing the casualties of █ personnel and injuring ██ more. The properties of SCP-XX were investigated and Site ## was built around it after it proved unable to be moved.
Addendum 1: On both sides of the door, a poem written in modern English is carved deeply into the wood beside the doorknob.
Forever here this door shall sit,
A rift in reason and in rhyme;
A pox on those who would commit
A treason 'gainst the flow of time.
Addendum 2: On ██/██/████, Dr. ██████ was assigned to Site ??. Prior to this assignment, he had been affected by SCP-███ in an experiment. Upon reaching the 20-meter radius, instances of SCP-XX-1 emerged and killed Dr. ██████, then proceeded to collect his remains and pulled them into SCP-XX. Containment procedures have been revised.
Addendum 3: After an experimental attempt on ██/██/█████ to force open the door, SCP-XX-1 swarmed out and immediately began attacking all personnel present. All future attempts to open SCP-XX are forbidden.
