SCP-XXXX Shorty after acquisition. |
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-01 are stored in a locked safe-deposit box in Site 19 in the High Value Item Storage Facility. Precautions have been taken to ensure that SCP-XXXX will not be disturbed in the event of seismic activity or a major containment breach. SCP-XXXX-01 is to be kept inside SCP-XXXX at all times with the exception of instances of authorized testing.
Any personnel exposed to SCP-XXXX in its active state are to leave its active zone immediately and report to the medical staff immediately for treatment. A full physical evaluation is required before return to active duty.
Description: SCP-XXXX consists of two items referred to as SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-01. SCP-XXXX is a handmade copper bowl of unknown origin. Carbon dating places its creation between ███ and ███ CE. SCP-XXXX-01 is a polished orange stone consisting primarily of wulfenite. Chemical analysis found traces of [DATA EXPUNGED], and several minerals previously unknown to science. The stone is smooth and cool to the touch. When SCP-XXXX-01 is not held inside SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX is considered active. While no physical change accompanies its active state, the digestive system of anyone within a 200 meter radius of the bowl will abruptly shut down. When SCP-XXXX-01 is placed in SCP-XXXX it becomes inactive and it is considered safe. Testing is ongoing as to the nature of SCP-XXXX01’s effect on SCP-XXXX. (See Addendum)
Untreated victims of SCP-XXXX will die of starvation. The amount of time it takes for SCP-XXXX’s victims to expire varies based on their physiology however, without treatment, exposure has a 100% mortality rate. With current treatment procedures consisting of [DATA EXPUNGED] the survival rate is 34% though lasting effects, such as an inability to gain weight, increased appetite, and intolerance of certain foods have been observed.
SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-01 arrived in an unmarked package in the hands of a man who attempted to approach site 19. The man was shot before he could reach the site itself. Autopsy revealed that he was close to starvation at the time of death. Dental records, fingerprints, and DNA testing failed to produce a match from any known database. An investigation of how he knew of Site 19 and where he acquired the package is ongoing.
Addendum: Ongoing experiments with D-Class personnel have shown that contact with SCP-XXXX-01 results in a state of serenity and enhanced wellbeing while prolonged contact induces a loss of consciousness that lifts when the stone is removed. Further testing revealed that, if left unattended in this state for an extended period, the subject will die of dehydration.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in the medical ward of Site XX. When not in use, the bobbin and foot pedal are to be stored in a separate, locked container. Only medical and research staff with a clearance level of 3 or higher may access SCP-XXXX. Any personnel operating SCP-XXXX must have basic knowledge of how to operate a sewing machine, and wear medical grade gloves to prevent accidental grafting.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be an ordinary ██████ brand sewing machine. If the bobbin case is empty, or the bobbin contains thread, the machine does not display any anomalous properties. In the event that the bobbin is empty or becomes empty during operation, SCP-XXXX will become ‘active.’
While ‘active,’ SCP-XXXX will generate an as-of-yet unidentified material in place of thread (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-A). How SCP-XXXX generates SCP-XXXX-A remains unknown. Examination of the inner workings of SCP-XXXX uncovered a metal cylinder approximately 1 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm in height connected to the bobbin case. All attempts to open this container have been unsuccessful.
Tests have determined that SCP-XXXX-A is biological in nature and is structurally similar to tissue found in human ligaments. DNA testing has confirmed that SCP-XXXX-A is human in origin. The genetic profile of SCP-XXXX-A is consistent across tests. Attempts to identify the origin of the DNA profile have proven unsuccessful.
Clothing produced by SCP-XXXX that contains SCP-XXXX-A will automatically fuse with any human skin it comes into contact with, regardless of the material used in the clothing. Testing has successfully grafted cotton, vinyl, polyester, spandex, denim, quilting plastic, and generic skin grafts to various parts of the human body. This process has proven effective for treating severe burns and skin loss.
After grafting, fabric and other inorganic materials retain previous properties such as texture, color, and composition. Over a period of three days following the procedure, any seams in the graft will ‘heal’ and SCP-XXXX-A will dissipate, leaving behind a permanent indent similar to a scar. The patient will perceive sensory input through the graft as if it were their own skin. Any later injuries to the graft repair itself at approximately the same rate as normal skin. In 96% of cases the immune system does not react to the graft, and no immunosuppressants are required. Longitudinal testing has not found any notable side-effects.
SCP-XXXX was retrieved from the house of ████ █████ in 20██. Ms. █████ had her sewing machine repaired at ██████ Sew n’ Vac in █████, ██, USA. When she took the machine home, the quilt she was sewing fused with her arm. The SCP foundation was alerted, and retrieved the machine without incident. The quilt was cut from Ms. █████’s arm, her wounds were treated, and she was administered Class A amnestics. Further investigation found ██████ Sew n’ Vac closed and abandoned soon after Ms. █████ retrieved her machine. Numerous anomalous objects were found on the property and subsequently contained. Investigation into the shop and its employees is ongoing.

Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in in 1m iron box with walls no less than 10cm in thickness. The box is to be filled within 1” of the top with human blood. The blood is to be harvested from D-Class personnel during routine extermination. The box is to be contained in a room of at least 5m x 5m x 2.5m with iron walls at least 14cm in thickness. The SCP-XXXX monitoring room must be staffed at all times by at least one (1) level 1 security personnel who is to make hourly entries in the log book recording the iron level of the blood and anything unusual from the security camera footage. The containment chamber is to be inspected daily by a team of two (2) level 1 personnel for threats to the structural integrity of the box or the lining of the room. This team should be accompanied by one (1) sedated Class-D personnel in case of full containment breach. Once per week the inspection team is to change the blood in the box after removing SCP-XXXX and 1 liter of the blood in a separate container designed specifically for this procedure. If at any point an inspection finds the box to be structurally compromised or the serum iron content of the blood drops below 40 micrograms per deciliter a partial containment breach is in effect. In case of partial containment breach, the containment chamber is to be flooded with a molten iron bearing salt until a team can be dispatched. If at any time the blood serum iron drops below 10 micrograms per deciliter or SCP-XXXX escapes the confines of the containment box a full containment breach is in effect. In case of a full containment breach, the recovery team is to be accompanied by 2 (two) D-Class personnel to act as hosts for SCP-XXXX during recovery as well as 1 (one) level 1 medical personnel equipped with field surgery supplies and a specialized, blood filled, containment receptacle.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a set if two similar iron compass needles approximately 6 cm in length weighing a combined 2.3kg. When not immersed the needles demonstrate an extreme attraction to the nearest supply of human blood, generally the closest person. No matter how distant the needles are from the nearest human blood, the attractive force is equally strong. The attractive force is quite strong, causing the needles to “fly” across open spaces faster than the human eye can detect and “burrow” through solid objects in a time ranging between seconds and hours depending on the strength and size of the intervening object. When it reaches a blood source, SCP-XXXX “burrows” into the source until it is entirely immersed in blood, the behavior of the needles becomes similar to that of a non-anomalous compass needle, entering a “passive state” and continuously turning to face magnetic North. In the case that the needles are embedded in a human “host”, the turning can cause significant internal damage and eventual death (see addendum). Over time the iron content of any blood in which SCP-XXXX is suspended slowly decreases. Testing shows that SCP-XXXX exhibits an increase in mass equivalent to the iron lost from the blood. This increase in mass is accompanied by a corresponding increase in hardness, although SCP-XXXX is by no means indestructible. All further durability testing is to be discontinued unless specifically approved by Level 4 Personnel (See Addendum XXXX-3). When blood iron content drops below approximately 10 micrograms per deciliter, SCP-XXXX will leave its passive state and continue to seek out sources of human blood.
Addendum XXXX-1: Acquisition: SCP-XXXX was initially brought to the foundation’s attention when agents intercepted a panicked 911 call from the office of the coroner in █████. The coroner was performing an autopsy on a local antiques dealer when he reported being “stung by a giant insect or something.” Later investigations suggest that at this point SCP-XXXX embedded itself in the coroner’s chest. The autopsy was performed due to the unusual nature of the antique dealer’s death. Although she was originally admitted to the hospital under the diagnosis of bacterial infection (from a cut acquired while attempting to restore an antique compass, according to the medical file), her eventual death appeared to be the result of severe anemia and internal hemorrhaging. Foundation agents picked up the coroner under the guise of a local ambulance service. A search of the antique dealer's house revealed no sign of the alleged compass.
Addendum XXXX-2: Medical Testing: Although removal of SCP-XXXX from a human host is difficult due to its strong attraction to human blood (both that of the patient and that of the medical personnel), experiments with D Class personnel reveal that amputation can remove SCP-XXXX quite effectively and with minimal risk to all personnel involved. Unfortunately, SCP-XXXX tends to embed in the chest region, where blood is more plentiful and the attractive force is strongest, so amputation is not generally a viable option. Experiments with D Class personnel have also shown that SCP-XXXX can be successfully contained in the bodies post extermination for short periods of time, although this approach becomes risky as blood iron levels drop. Providing iron supplements to the “host” can increase the amount of time before the onset of anemic symptoms, although no method has yet been able to halt or reverse the condition. Experiments using synthetic blood or attempting to dissolve additional iron into iron poor blood have thus far proved unsuccessful. Currently all blood for the containment of SCP-XXXX is acquired from terminated D Class. In cases of low supply, foundation personnel may submit a request to acquire additional blood from a local blood bank or staff blood drive. A request is pending regarding the use of SCP-038 to duplicate blood and reduce the cost of containment.
Addendum XXXX-3: Durability Testing: SCP-XXXX is extremely hard with a rating of on the ██ Modified Moh’s Scale of Hardness developed by Dr. █████ which appears to increase as SCP-XXXX absorbs more iron. All initial tests failed to damage SCP-XXXX in any way until a test using SCP-███ broke the needle directly in half. Both halves exhibited the same anomalous properties as the whole needle. In addition, both halves began removing the iron from blood at a dramatically increased rate, requiring the premature termination of ██ D Class personnel to maintain containment. Iron absorption returned to normal rates once both halves had reconstructed their missing portions at a density slightly higher than that of the original needle.
