The Melter

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a 20mx20mx20m room at Site-23, which is filled with water. The water is to be heated to keep it at a steady temperature of 373 degrees Kelvin. In the event that the heating fails, and the water is cooled, SCP-XXXX is to be carried by machinery into another 20mx20mx20m room, heated to 303 degrees Kelvin. The same is to be done if the heating in that room fails. Currently, the Foundation has ██ spare rooms for SCP-XXXX to be contained in, and █ more are being created every day.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a broken piece of a ship or submarine, recovered at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean on ██/██/████. SCP-XXXX has very little corrosion, despite testing confirming that SCP-XXXX has been in the ocean for [REDACTED] years. No markings have been found on SCP-XXXX, and the metal that it is made of is unknown.

The first anomalous property of SCP-XXXX, is that it feels warm to the touch, despite being discovered at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. SCP-XXXX's temperature has been found to be ███ Kelvin. SCP-XXXX's other anomalous properties begin to manifest when it is placed in the general vicinity of a an item that is cooler than it by any amount of degrees. When this happens, SCP-XXXX will begin to get warmer at a rate of ███K/█ seconds. The area around SCP-XXXX will also get warmer, and eventually reach the original temperature of SCP-XXXX. By this point, SCP-XXXX will be warmer than the area around it(designated SCP-XXXX-1) and therefore will start to get warmer again, although slower this time, now at a rate of ███K/█ seconds.

After approximately █ days after being around SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to slowly begin melting, if it is a solid. If SCP-XXXX-1 is a liquid or gas, no anomalous effects have been reported. SCP-XXXX-1 retains the same color when it is being liquefied. The consistency of SCP-XXXX-1 depends on how long it was melted for, with the longer it is around SCP-XXXX, the less dense SCP-XXXX-1 is. SCP-XXXX is not melted during this process, and also retains its original temperature when the process begins. After approximately ██ days, SCP-XXXX-1 will be the same consistency as water. Testing on human subjects has shown that [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-XXXX will attempt to melt as much as it possibly can of SCP-XXXX-1, as long as SCP-XXXX-1 is colder than SCP-XXXX. Distances have ranged from █cm to ███km.

Addendum-XXXX-01: Due to the location of where SCP-XXXX has been recovered, it has been suggested that [DATA EXPUNGED].
