Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: At the suggestion of Sector-28 athropological and psychological research staff, the individuals who comprise SCP-XXX are currently being held in 28-TF3, “the hundred acre woods,” for initial observation and evaluation. Food is to be supplied at a different location each day, and should include live animals. Tools, toys, and puzzles may be supplied for testing purposes with the approval of Doctor ????? or Doctor ?????. All results are to be entered in Experiment Log XXX-e.
Description: SCP-XXX is a small band of humanoids possessing the felinoid characterstics of slitted eyes possessing tapetae lucitae, short, dense body fur, pointed, motile ears situated high on the head, and long, non-prehensile tails. Their incisors are pronounced, and their nails are considerably more pointed, thicker, and harder than human norms. They are also fully capable of both bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion. Thus far, they have been exclusively nocturnal or crepuscular in their activity cycle. During their activity cycle, they roam 28-TF3 in groups of 2 to 4 individals, foraging for edible plants and hunting small prey, primarily using coordinated ambush tactics. Their behaviour indicates extreme timidity, despite their physical prowess being comparable to that of athletic human adults. During daylight hours, they withdraw to the shelter, where they sleep in a tight group. Their vocalisations seem to constitute a language. No progress has been made on translation.
Addendum: SCP-XXX was initially found on ??/???/20?? in Strathcona Park, Vancouver Island, Canada, when a solitary hiker was attacked by what was presumed to be an animal. The SCP became involved when the hiker’s wounds could not be matched to any species know to inhabit the area. A team was dispatched to the approximate area, and after extensive surveillance located tracks. Various local foods were placed covertly around the shore of a nearby lake, laced with multipart sedatives. The band demonstrated extreme caution, each one eating only a small part of a single food at first. When no ill effects occurred, they shared the food, and were successfully sedated. Backtracking to the small cave they apparently used as a shelter revealed no indications of other individuals, or of personal possessions. After capture, they were transported to 28-TF3. As the area is similar to the area in which they were first found, is not currently in use, and was fenced off, equipped with cameras, and provided with a small shelter when initially designated a training area, this was deemed the optimal area for initial observation.
Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Given the non-portable nature of SCP-XXX, the small pass leading to it has been blocked with a chain link fence marked with falling rock warning signs. Its relatively isolated and infrequented location renders more active security likely to be counterproductive.
Description: SCP-XXX is a small, windowless hut, in the ????? area of the ?????? ???????, Romania. The hut’s estimated construction date is between 1470 CE and 1530 CE. Measuring 3.7mx2.4mx2.1m (at the peak), the hut is made entirely of bones, mostly from local animals, of various sizes. The gaps between bones have been filled with sintered bone. The method by which the bone was sintered is unknown. A single door, also of bone, hung on hinges carved of bone, is in the long side of the hut, facing the entrance of the path. Inside the hut, there is a fireplace in the short wall to the left.
When a person enters, he is immediately struck by a sensation of mild cold, and a desire to light a fire. The urge, initially weak, becomes stronger over time, until the person can no longer resist it. At this point, the person will attempt to light a fire using any flammable material that might be conveniently available. These attempts, so far as has been observed, are uniformly unsuccessful when using conventional materials. At this point, an irrational belief will start to come over the person, and he will search the hut for free bones to put in the fireplace, eventually resorting to mutilation, killing, or if there is no other source of bone, self-mutilation. Bone placed in the fire will immediately ignite, and will burn with a bright green flame, giving heat and light equal in intensity to an equal volume of hardwood, and burning for the same duration. The person who lights the fire will be entranced by it, and will not voluntarily leave the hut or allow the fire to go out. Others in the hut will be similarly entranced, but will not be compelled to keep the fire burning while the initial firestarter is still alive.
