Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX may be used by any level-2 and above clearance personnel. Upon request, object must be within close proximity of any form of parchment. Subjects using the object are highly advised to not write any information pertaining to other SCP items. The object may be kept on the person of employees of level 3 clearance of higher. When not one someones person, the object is to be kept in a supply locker, and clearly labeled. (Label not to be attached to the SCP itself)
Description: SCP-XXXX physically appears to be a simple Ticonderoga #2 pencil. It bears no markings or deformities. The anomalous nature of the object are only noticed when it is either written with, used to erase some form of written material, or left unobserved and near blank parchment. When used to write, the objects graphite will not shorten, but will still wright, and leave no residue. Erasing with the object induces the same effects. When left unobserved near parchment, the sound of writing can be heard, and pieces of nearby parchment will have messages, stories, and other written material on it. Camera recordings show that the object does not move while unobserved, but writing appears on nearby paper none-the-less. The amount of time it takes for object to write varies depending on the amount written. Conversations with SCP-XXXX have been attempted successfully.(See Addendum XXXX-01)
Subjects using the object are encouraged to write things such as journal entries, stories, or other literature, as SCP-XXXX seems to have an extensive writing knowledge, often giving advice to the person writing whenever they put down the object and break visual contact. Although, any knowledge pertaining to anything that does not regard writing are not known to the object unless it was previously written with the SCP.
Addendum XXXX-01:
<Begin Log>
Dr. █████████: Can you understand me? (Subject looks away to allow the object to write.)
SCP-XXXX: Yes.
Dr. █████████: Where did you get your abilities?
SCP-XXXX: I do not know.
Dr. █████████: Do you have any requests on personnel using you?
SCP-XXXX: I would like it if there was blank paper nearby. I enjoy writing stories.
Dr. █████████: Is that all?
SCP-XXXX: Yes.
Dr. █████████: Will you comply with further testing?
SCP-XXXX: Yes.
Dr. █████████: Then you may expect more conversations with various personnel soon.
SCP-XXXX: I will be waiting.
Additional: SCP-XXXX has been known to collaborate with subjects in the process of writing literature. Personnel who are in the process of, or are planning to write anything for an extended period of time should be asked to use the object so as to get a larger perspective of the objects current knowledge. The objects personality is also something of interest. While the object at the moment seems harmless, if it were to gain, or already have knowledge pertaining to other SCPs, it could end up divulging classified information to unwanted persons.
Testing with SCP-XXXX regarding passing classified information is, as stated, highly inadvisable. Although, it is currently being discussed, and may be given more consideration if the object proves it can be trusted to keep the information secret, and if it can accurately distinguish different personnel on its own. If this so happens, it will be advised to not agitate the object, doing so could result in it giving information to unwanted persons, if it ever comes under control of persons not within The Foundation.
